The software then offers you to print a rescue sheet which is nothing more than a form in which you can enter your passphrase by hand. The use of numbers and special characters can quickly become overwhelming in this context. This is important because you will be using this phrase all the time to access passwords. It will be easier to remember for an equivalent level of security. Rather than using a random password, it is advisable to create a long sentence consisting of four or five randomly chosen words. Then the most important thing is to define the master key. You must first go to “File-> New…” and define a name for the new KDBX file which will contain your password base. If you don’t trust cloud offerings like Lastpass or Dashlane, your eye is bound to fall on KeePass, a free and open source password manager. Unless you have an elephant’s memory or a very reduced online activity, the use of a password manager is now a necessity.
